Nicotine reaches the brain in about 10 seconds and triggers a release of dopamine, the "feel-good" chemical. The brain remembers that temporary lift and craves it again โ this is the cycle of addiction.
With repeated use, the brain produces less dopamine on its own โ so life without nicotine starts to feel "not normal."
Teen brains are still developing, so addiction can take hold faster and deeper.
